Cape May-Lewes Weather
consists of four mild seasons with warm summers and cool winters. Snow is possible in the winter months and occasionally the Bay does freeze over, but temperatures usually are not frigid and snow does not stay on the ground too long in Cape May or Lewes. However, if you are in the area in winter and by chance it does turn cold, seeing Cape May covered with snow, or the Bay frozen in ice is an awesome sight. The average temperatures are 41 in winter, 63 in spring, 85 in summer and 62 in fall. Precipitation in the area is spread fairly evenly throughout the year with thunderstorms possible in the summer. Extreme warm temperatures in summer are kept in check by cooling ocean breezes. Generally, August through October sees the most hurricane activity.
